HELBoard

HELBoard — Accessibility

HELBoard is a personal arrivals and departures board for airports operated by Finavia. We care about accessibility, but we are not accessibility experts. We test on real devices and improve when we learn better.

This page describes what we support today on iPhone, how to use it, and where we still fall short. It should match the Accessibility Nutrition Labels on the App Store listing. If a label is not listed as claimed below, we have not checked that box.

HELBoard has no account, no tracking, and no third party code. Pins and alerts stay on this device.

App Store labels (iPhone)

These are the labels we set in App Store Connect for iPhone.

Claimed (after a device check of Dark Mode, Larger Text, Reduce Motion, Sufficient Contrast, and VoiceOver on common tasks):

Not claimed yet. The app is built with system SwiftUI, but we have not finished a dedicated pass:

Not claimed. HELBoard has no video or spoken audio:

HELBoard has no video or spoken audio, so it does not claim Captions or Audio Descriptions.

VoiceOver

The board, search, direction control, flight details, pinned list, airport picker, Info, and Tip Jar use system lists, buttons, sheets, and alerts.

Board rows speak time, city, flight number (spelled letter by letter), status, and gate, check in, or baggage claim when present. Double tap a row to open flight details. The Arrivals / Departures control is labeled **Flight direction**. Swipe actions on the board and pinned list include **Refresh** and **Jump to now** when earlier flights are visible.

Flight numbers and airport codes are spelled so VoiceOver does not read `AY1331` as a word or `1331` as “one thousand three hundred thirty one.” Times use a spoken clock format (for example “eight thirty four”) instead of a decimal.

On the flight sheet, **Pin**, **Flight alerts** (On/Off), and **Share flight** are separate controls. Informational rows can be long pressed to copy the row or the complete flight information. Close is a text button on the leading edge, per Apple’s sheet guidance.

Spoken flight details identify flight codes, gates, check-in desks, baggage claims, and times clearly. Copy actions use the same visible labels and values, so the result remains understandable outside the app.

We checked VoiceOver on iPhone for board browse, search, open flight, pin and mute, pinned list, airport change, Info, and Tip Jar, so we claim this label. A VoiceOver expert did not do this pass. Live Activity and Apple Watch were not walked with VoiceOver.

Voice Control

Controls are standard system controls, so “Show names” and “Tap …” should work for most actions.

We have not done a Voice Control pass, so we do not claim it.

Larger Text (Dynamic Type)

HELBoard uses system text styles and linearizes My Flights, pinned-flight, and arrival rows at accessibility text sizes. Flight times, codes, destinations, statuses, check-in desks, gates, and baggage claims remain visible without being clipped or hidden.

Long-press copy actions remain available for flight information, including at large text sizes. The layouts may be less compact and require more scrolling, but the information remains readable.

Dark Interface

Light and Dark appearances follow the system setting throughout the app. We checked both, so we claim this label.

Sufficient Contrast

Body text, sheet Close buttons, and airport city names use primary label color. Secondary stays for supporting chrome such as IATA codes. Status pills keep Finavia FIDS colors. We checked with Increase Contrast in light and dark, so we claim this label.

Differentiate Without Color Alone

Pin status uses a colored dot in addition to text and icons. We have not verified grayscale only use end to end, so we do not claim this label yet.

Reduced Motion

System navigation follows Reduce Motion. We checked Reduce Motion on iPhone for board, sheets, and Info, so we claim this label.

Tips

System navigation follows Reduce Motion. We checked Reduce Motion on iPhone for board, sheets, and Info, so we claim this label.
